EMERGENCY RESPONSE COORDINATOR

The emergency response coordinator is one of the jobs in international cooperation.
He must be a person who reacts well to sudden situations and the tasks required are:

  • Establish country-level emergency response program through developing clear objectives, achievement benchmarks and Standard Operating Procedures, and detailed implementation plans.
  • Develop overall program workplan and ensure that all the components evolve according to agreed schedules and with local partners.
  • Closely monitor programs implementation and budget utilization and ensure that program and spending targets are met, working with monthly spending plans based on budget vs. actual analyses.
  • Liase with government, UN and other agencies coordinating on the emergency response.
  • Monitor compliance with donor regulations and policies, in the course of program implementation.
  • Ensure regular communication between partners and the technical support units, with special attention to follow-up and follow-through.
  • Ensure timely production of reports.
  • Ensure program indicators and monitoring protocols are practiced and regularly monitored for quality assurance.
  • Develop in-country capacity building plan and ensure that staff members, partners and customers are adequately trained and equipped with the right tools to respond to recurrent/future emergencies.
  • Increase the organization’s visibility and impact through networking and strengthening relationships with peers, donors, government representatives, and UN agencies to reinforce the impact of the Program, increase its influence, and identify new opportunities.

The Master in Cooperation and Development at Pavia’s University first prepares the students first with theoretical classes with a multidisciplinary approach and then providing them an internship up to 6 months to the test their skills on the field.
