Palestine – First CDN Summer School on Cultures and Development at Bethlehem University

Bethlehem University, 3-8 July 2017

From the 3rd till the 8th of July 2017 Bethlehem University hosted the first CDN – Summer School on Cultures and Development. The intensive course is part of the activities of UNESCO UniTwin Network on International Cooperation and Development and it was organized with the significant support of the UNESCO National Office for Palestine. Its Director, Dr.

Lodovico Folin Calabi, delivered a lecture on the role of UNESCO and supported the visits of the participants to the 2 UNESCO Heritage sites in Palestine (the old city of Bethlehem and Battir). The Municipality of Bethlehem endorsed the initiative, participating in the opening ceremony and assuring its support for future editions of the Summer School.

The summer school was a unique opportunity to have students from 3 poles (Palestine, Kenya and Italy) of the CDN network studying and discussing together about role of culture and cultural heritage as drivers for local development processes.

Unfortunately, for logistic and bureaucratic reasons, students from Colombia and Nepal were not able to reach Bethlehem.
