PROJECT MANAGER

The project manager is the most required professional role from NGOs in international cooperation and the tasks are:

  • Leading the coordination, support and tracking of the progress of the project
  • Track project budgeting, action plans and reporting. Proactively flag any deviation and follow up on the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Lead the writing and coordination of the content development for all assigned proposals and ensure an effective and timely contribution from the field offices and various internal stakeholders
  • Ensure that field staff have relevant materials, financial information and support needed to launch new projects and stay on track.
  • Write/edit/translate project reports, ensuring standard requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with field staff, volunteers and/or the senior management team to develop content for reports and proposals.
  • Conduct visits to project sites to support field offices as necessary
  • Support donor visits to the field
  • Support the development and improvement of internal processes related to resource mobilizations, communication, reporting, capacity building etc.
  • Comply with the information management tools used by the team and support improvement initiatives
  • Ensure the relationship with the different actors of the project (donor, partner, local authorities…)
  • Ensures and proposing capacity-building opportunities for the staff
  • Prepares and ensures regular update of financial plan,
  • Verifies and approves purchase, in line with the budget and the financial and procurement plan.

The Master in Cooperation and Development at Pavia’s University has an entire module (more then 110 hours) on project management during the first months of theoretical lessons and it also provides the practical skills needed with an internship up to 6 months.
